Caregiver Burnout

This week, I was in a 1:1 tapping session with a woman who is a caregiver for a parent who has cancer, and she was sharing how overwhelmed and exhausted she’s been not only caring for her parent, but also trying to care for herself and her family. In addition, she was also feeling a lot of complex emotions around her difficult relationship with this parent, and how that’s been showing up in this caregiving dynamic.

This is such a common experience for caregivers- not only the burnout and exhaustion, but also how much more emotionally challenging it can be to care for someone that you have a difficult history with.

In these situations, it is so important to allow multiple conflicting feelings to be present- and valid- at the same time, even if they seem to be contradicting each other. Watch as I share some trauma-informed techniques that I use as a tapping practitioner when I work with clients who are caregivers.
